The SE-IRO was designed and built following strict quality standards in accordance with EU, Spanish-government and Catalan-government regulations.
The SE-IRO is divided into five different areas:
Quarantine and isolation area.
Veterinary control of animals entering these installations is carried out before they are moved to their rooms. In addition, to avoid the entry of pathogens to the rest of the installations, there is a quarantine room with ventilated racks and negative pressure to house animals that do not comply with FELASA recommendations and are awaiting rederivation.
Area for housing animals under SPF (Specific Pathogen Free) conditions.
In order to avoid any contamination that could affect them, the animals are housed in cabinets or ventilated racks and the rooms have flow cabins to carry out the handling and change.
Laboratories.
The SE-IRO has three laboratories at the disposal of users. The laboratories are the following:
- Necropsy and sample-collection laboratory
- X-ray diagnosis laboratory
- Culture laboratory
Washing room and storage area.
The washing area of the SE-IRO has a washing machine and an autoclave for sterilising material. It also has four storage areas.
Administration area.
This area contains the offices of SE-IRO managers and personal, as well as changing rooms
